Description
At Miaplaza, our vision is to elevate online learning and make it more effective than ever before. We apply the most successful approaches in virtual education to create an online learning platform where all students can be successful. Our platform allows users to personalize each student's learning path in a way that exceeds the possibilities of the traditional classroom setting. Every lesson we develop goes through a collaborative creation process and multiple review phases from experts in different fields/disciplines. Our main K-8 curriculum platform is Miacademy, and our high school platform is MiaPrep.
As part of our mission to reach more students and have a greater impact, we launched MiaPrep Online High School (MOHS), an accredited online private school, which has further grown to serve our families’ various educational needs. Our inaugural school year was the 2022-23 year, and we continue to grow at a fast pace as we work to establish strong systems for student success and external partnerships that provide additional opportunities to our students.
At MOHS, our vision is to bring online education to the next level by offering a flexible virtual schooling option for families. Our support services at MOHS include opportunities for students to receive online support from highly qualified teachers, participate in social opportunities and extracurriculars, and work toward their high school diploma using an individualized academic plan.
The Academic Counselor will serve an integral role in our continued growth, taking primary responsibility for monitoring students’ academic progress, managing academic interventions, developing individualized plans to help students reach their goals, and acting as the point of contact for scheduling, transcripts, and academic advising.

- Communicate with teachers regarding new and updated student academic plans and other academic-related issues
- Accurately interpret and utilize student data to provide up-to-date information and recommend changes in our new processes as needed
- Monitor student academic performance and partner with parents to ensure students are on track toward graduation
- Provide guidance and resources to students that will promote and encourage postsecondary education plans, including college, trade school, military, working abroad, and other pathways
- Support our accreditation by completing necessary documentation, facilitating accreditation reviews, and advising administration on strategies to achieve California A-G requirements and NCAA eligibility
- Collect education and career data of alumni to determine the effectiveness of our school and recommend adjustments as needed
- Support student enrollment expansion goals by communicating with prospective parents and providing clear and actionable data to show solutions for their educational needs
- Assist in the upkeep of a course catalog as courses become available or updated
- Conduct exit interviews with parents and students after a transfer or graduation
- Demonstrate excellent attention to detail, professionalism, initiative, and ownership of our school to push it toward future growth and student success
