Position Overview: As a 508 Compliance Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that our digital content, websites, and applications meet and exceed 508 compliance standards. Your work will make a significant impact, providing access to information and services for people with disabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct comprehensive accessibility audits of digital content, websites, and applications to identify areas of non-compliance.
Collaborate with development and design teams to remediate accessibility issues and ensure that all digital properties meet WCAG 2.1 and 508 compliance standards.
Create and implement accessibility policies, guidelines, and best practices to support ongoing compliance efforts.
Develop and conduct accessibility training for internal teams to raise awareness and improve accessibility knowledge.
Stay updated on relevant laws and regulations, ensuring our digital properties remain in compliance.
Review and assess third-party tools and technologies for accessibility and provide recommendations.
Manage and maintain a library of accessible design components, templates, and patterns for use by design and development teams.
Serve as an advocate for accessibility, promoting its importance across the organization.
Collaborate with external auditors, if necessary, to confirm 508 compliance.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Computer Science, Information Technology, or Accessibility)
In-depth knowledge of WCAG 2.1 and Section 508 accessibility standards
Experience with assistive technologies and a deep understanding of how people with disabilities use digital content
Proficiency in accessibility evaluation tools and software
Strong problem-solving and communication skills
Previous experience in conducting accessibility audits and remediation
Familiarity with web development and design practices
Relevant certifications (e.g., IAAP CPACC) are a plus
