Description
Nicklaus Engineering, Inc. is seeking an Architectural Designer with 5+ years’ experience working in an architectural firm. Experience in military and municipal projects is preferred. Nicklaus is seeking a highly organized and detailed oriented architectural designer responsible for accurately preparing construction documents under the supervision of an Architect. Designer must have a Professional Architecture degree (Bachelor or Master of Architecture) with 5+ years of experience in an architectural firm. Position requires proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite. Duties include conducting code research, coordinating with subconsultants, developing designs, preparing drawings and specifications, cost estimating, construction administration and supervising construction projects.
Desired Skills and Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture or equivalent required
- Highly proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with municipal and military projects preferred
- Knowledge of architectural systems, components and assemblies
- Technical knowledge of Architectural detailing
- Knowledge of building codes and regulations
- Experience in developing and completing construction documents and specifications
- Experience in developing construction cost estimates
- Strong presentation skills and graphic and visualization skills to communicate design ideas
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work on multiple projects at the same time
- Ability to communicate in a clear, concise and professional manner both verbally and in writing
- Ability to be independent and work with little supervision
Responsibilities Include:
- Acts as a lead designer on multiple projects developing conceptual design, presentations and construction documents
- Resolve complex design issues with innovative and practical solutions to maintain goals and objectives of projects
- Architectural design and technical detailing to prepare, coordinate, and produce construction documents
- Guide and direct multiple drafters to manage the development of design throughout design development and construction documents
- Communicate with Architect on progress of project documents and arising issues
- Coordinate with consultants, contractors, fabricators, furniture dealers and regulatory agencies to meet project objectives
- Research and specify products and materials relating to the project
- Check projects for code compliance
- Assist in construction administration including submittals, RFIs, and meetings
- Responsible for delivering a project on defined budget requirements and project schedule

Nicklaus has a long history working with private and municipal clients within the desert southwest and has grown to service federal clients throughout the United States. Nicklaus Engineering’s corporate office is located in Yuma, AZ with satellite offices in San Diego, CA and El Centro, CA. This position is for our Yuma office with the possibility of working remotely.
