Description
John Marshall Media is the world's largest independent producer of audiobooks and audio for the Educational Publishing Industry. We're looking for proofers with a background in English/Literature to do quality control on our audiobooks. This is a remote position, and you are expected to report to a supervisor via phone, e-mail and Microsoft Teams, and to have reasonably fast internet. We hope to find several excellent candidates that will work with us for years to come.
We’re offering $17 per finished hour of audio that has been proofed. Generally, we expect each hour of proofing to take about 90 minutes. For example - a 10 hour book should be completed in about 15 hours.
The Work:
You will quality check (QC) audiobooks using audio software. Projects will be given to you based on your availability. You will listen to recordings while noting discrepancies between the script and the audio, checking for pronunciation accuracy and other things that would distract the end consumer. Audio experience is not required, but is a plus!
This is a freelance/as needed position. You'll let us know your availability and we'll assign projects to you based on this availability. However, please note that we're looking for applicants that are available for at least 20 or more hours per week. Two or three consecutive days of availability each week is preferred, but the hours are flexible. And we hope to create a long-term relationship.
Application Process:
- Step 1: Submit an application: Tell us about your education and experience with audiobooks. We're looking for extremely reliable, professional applicants. Please submit a cover letter of why you’re interested in the position; this can be as short as one paragraph.
- Step 2: QC Test: For applicants who are selected to move forward, we will send you a brief QC test in which you'll listen through some audio, noting any errors present in the files. This shouldn't take more than 30 minutes.
- Step 3: Video Interview: We are looking for people who are autonomous and able to receive feedback well, in addition to being excellent communicators. We’d love to learn more about you and will ask a few questions to see if you’ll be a good fit for our team.
When applying, be sure to include an e-mail address that we can use to reach you. Please remember that we're looking for applicants who follow directions well. We look forward to receiving your applications.
