Description
Macro Connect is a growing team currently working out of a historic police station in the Eastern Market neighborhood of Detroit, but will be moving in the near future to a historic library located near Mack and Gratiot. We are focused on helping schools, nonprofits and businesses achieve breakthrough performance by leveraging data and technology.
Macro Connect is one of multiple businesses our finance team supports, and this position will hold responsibilities with Macro Connect as well as our sister companies: Hunt Street Station and MarkSetBot. Hunt Street Station is a co-working and event space located in Eastern Market. MarkSetBot is a small, but quickly growing manufacturing company with sales world-wide.
We are currently looking for a full-time Bookkeeper that fits with our company values and can provide extraordinary service to our family of companies. This position can be performed remotely if desired.

Core abilities needed:
- Ability to manage all accounting operations including but not limited to billing, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, General Ledger, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting and Revenue Recognition
- Coordinate with HR company for payroll processing
- Understand and prepare financial statements
- Develop budgets and financial plans
- Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
Additional responsibilities:
- Process and workflow improvements across teams (multiple companies managed by our accounting department)
- Software implementation to improve efficiency and accuracy
- Development of new processes for start-up company
- Maintain documented system of accounting policies & procedures
- Other administrative duties and ad-hoc projects as needed
Ideal Candidate:
- Self-starter who can recognize organizational needs and initiate internal procedural changes when necessary
- Flexible and able to switch gears and adjust quickly to changes
- Extremely detail oriented, with the ability to multitask and be a team player in a fact-paced environment
- Comfortable learning and using multiple technology platforms
- 5+ years progressive accounting/finance experience (required)
- Experience with international organizations and VAT (preferred)
- Experience with multi-currency bookkeeping (preferred)
- Experience in a manufacturing setting (preferred)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint
- Proficient in QuickBooks and other more advanced business management software
