Desktop Investigator
The Desktop Investigator is responsible for conducting various types of social media and background investigations.
What You'll Do
- Social media research
- Public record research
- Open-source intelligence
- Utilize 3rd party databases to build leads and assist with investigations
- Analysis and documentation of findings catered to the objective of each assignment
- Cross-referencing data to draw actionable conclusions that increase the success of our field investigators
- Identifying additional investigative services applicable to each case
- Assist with quality review and training other investigators
Day To Day Responsibilities
- Conduct social media investigations, background investigations, medical canvasses, and skip trace assignments.
- Prepare investigation reports
- Monitor social media accounts and update clients on recent activities that are relevant to the investigation
- Conducting searches for various types of public records which include criminal, civil, business filings, professional licenses, insurance claims, etc.
- Utilize comprehensive databases, software, and online tools to assist with investigations
- Review investigation reports from other investigators to ensure quality
- Provide training and feedback to other investigators
Requirements and Qualifications
- Applicants must be able to perform all job responsibilities from a secure and private home-based location.
- Experience in insurance investigations with emphasis in Workers’ Compensation fraud or personal injury claims
- Ability to analyze complex information and present it in easy-to-understand terms
- Strong problem solving and communication skills
- Familiarity with popular social media platforms
- Skilled in open-source intelligence and internet research
- Experience with public record research
- Familiarity with the California court system
- Experience with Microsoft Office
- Experience with phone canvassing for medical records is a plus
- Experience with skip tracing or locating individuals through various research methods is a plus
- Experience retrieving public records is a plus
- A bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, criminology, or related major is preferred
Job Type: Full-time
Hourly Rate: $17.10 - $22.00 per hour
