Description
The Executive Director is responsible for fulfilling the mission of the COC: to be an advocate for our local businesses, to support our membership with value added services and to contribute to the success of our community. The Executive Director spearheads the day to day operations of the Chamber, including financial and marketing management. Coordinates, plans, implements, monitors, directs and evaluates all aspects of COC operations including supervision, support and coaching of employees. Meets financial expectations, maintains high member satisfaction, and ensures a quality service and customer oriented staff. Manages based on the COC’s policies, procedures and guidelines.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT
- Set priorities, complete assignments in a timely manner while managing multiple duties and responsibilities.
- Manage to prescribed financial targets. Have system in place to approve normal expenses. Work with Treasurer to implement financial policies and procedures.
- Prepare reports for President and coordinate Board of Directors (BOD) meetings.
- Review and redirect resources and activity where necessary, pertaining to labor, expenses and quality of services.
- Oversee development and implementation of all strategies consistent with COC objectives.
- Develop and implement operating and capital budgets and recommend improvements including renovation, maintenance and purchase of new equipment.
- Respect members’ rights and conduct business with contractors, vendors and the public in an ethical manner.
COMMUNICATIONS MANAGEMENT
· Communicate in a positive and professional manner to both internal and external customers.
· Maintain a positive, professional attitude in interactions with members, staff and the public.
· Provide timely responses to all inquiries and requests from members, staff and the community.
· Appropriately communicate COC wide initiatives.
MARKETING / PUBLIC RELATIONS MANAGEMENT
· Provide oversight to the development and execution of marketing plans.
· Meet or exceed established program goals.
· Create a community-based sales and marketing culture. Counsel all staff in their role as COC ambassadors.
· Identify and regularly monitor the regional and local marketplace for changing conditions
and potential opportunities and respond accordingly.
· Be active in both internal and external community activities and serve as the spokesperson for the COC.
CREATIVE MANAGEMENT
· Display a positive, enthusiastic, can-do attitude.
· Encourage innovation and successful implementation.
· Deal creatively with difficult people.
· Create an “engaged” working environment.
TEACHING MANAGEMENT
· Develop and nurture a positive culture and set an example for all staff.
· Provide continuous training, education and updates to staff.

· Formalize recruitment sources and implement strategies to attract and retain talent.
· Be flexible and lead in an environment that promotes teamwork and collaboration.
· Assist and direct staff in accomplishing their work assignments and personal growth.
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS:
The Executive Director is a senior management position. A Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience, with emphasis on Business Management, Marketing, Public Administration, Human Resources Administration or related fields is desirable.
· Strong interest in and knowledge of Chatham and Cape Cod.
· Ability to gain trust with stakeholders: BOD, COC membership, subsidiary associations, staff, town government and the community.
· Strong business and management background.
· Innovation, creativity, patience, high energy and resourcefulness in problem solving.
· Demonstrated experience in successfully operating and maintaining a quality, customer focused service staff.
