Job Overview:
Shriners Children's is the premier pediatric burn, orthopaedic, spinal cord injury, cleft lip and palate, and pediatric subspecialties medical center. We have an opportunity for a remote Global Patient Services Specialist reporting into our Headquarters location. Do you have strong bilingual medical terminology skills, and would you like to utilize those skills to serve Shriners' Mission of providing the highest quality care to our pediatric and patients and their families? Then this job may be for you!
The Global Patient Services Specialist works collaboratively with a supervising Global Patient Services Coordinator to complete all requirements for patients referred for care from an assigned international geographic region. The Specialist works closely with patients’ families, Shriners Children's (SHC), and other referral sources to build medical files and complete required documentation, including consents and legal authorizations. The Specialist presents all relevant information about international patients’ cases to a centralized clinical professional for chart review. The Specialist informs patients’ guardians and other referral sources of denials and initial clinical clearances. Specialists offer international patient cases to SHC locations for physician assessments as well as initiate families’ financial assessments to determine need for sponsorship. At this point, the Specialist transfers primary responsibility for patients to his/her regional Coordinator and remains in a supporting position until patients arrive at SHC locations. Specialists also support international outreach clinics, research, training and education initiatives in their assigned regions.

As a rotating on-call point person, Coordinators identify, evaluate and determine best-fit air ambulance providers as well as financial sponsors in support of the transfer to the point of arrival at SHC location. Thorough and accurate documentation of acute of nonacute patient processes and communications is a primary responsibility.
Qualifications:

Professional-level verbal and written bilingual language skills required (English plus one of the following: Spanish, French, Portuguese or Arabic). Proficiency in medical terminology and Microsoft Office is required. 2 years of college, or equivalent experience, is required. Key skills for this position include superior interpersonal skills, respectful communication skills with patients as well as staff and temple members, and ability to multitask and adapt to change.
