Job Description
- The ‘Manager, Biologics Proposals - Existing Business’ is the process owner for all activities associated with planning for, generation of, and metrics around Biologics proposal generation (specifically Work Statements and/or Change of Scopes), specifically for supporting existing Client projects.
- The Manager will lead a remote team supporting a global biologics organization, distributing workload, addressing and resolving any customer concerns, working on systems improvements / implementations, matrix communications and participation in Client / leadership meetings and initiatives. Focus on revenue, invoicing, financials and connection to the program manager for each project will be needed. Remaining support can be dedicated to overflow proposal generation support as needed.
- The Manager will be part of the Biologics Program and Business Management leadership team. This position and the team will be remotely located, unless otherwise agreed.
- Biologics sites are located in Princeton, NJ, St. Louis, MO, Groningen, The Netherlands, Brisbane, Australia and Lengnau, Switzerland. Minor support, if any, may be needed for our Hangzhou, China site.
- Biologics Drug Substance services include bench scale cell line, process and analytical development (non-cGMP), cGMP Manufacturing (Phase I - III), Process Characterization, Validation and Commercial Supply.

Key Responsibilities:
- Day-to-day management, mentorship and oversight of the team of proposal managers also focusing on contracting scopes of work for existing Client projects.. Development of individual team members, periodic feedback and formal / informal reviews. Assessing the team bandwidth and resourcing appropriately based on sales targets and/or document issuance targets with a strong focus on positive Customer Experience. Driving standard methodologies among the team to maintain a productive and professional working environment.
- Work with the ‘Manager, Biologics Proposals - New Business’ for implementation, maintenance and review of systems associated with proposal scope generation including standard template language, standard assumptions and business terms to support the issuance of proposals documents that are complete, timely and aligned with business need.
- Direct interaction with various biologics business Leadership team members, as needed. Potentially collaborating closely with other business units as needed for preparing profitable and executable scopes of work.
- Planning for, support of and/or execution of process improvements spanning the lifecycle of the proposals process.
- Onboarding and training others about proposals practices and policies, as needed. Working to update these practices in response to business unit objectives.
- Trend and maintain an industry standard turnaround time for document issuance.
- Developing and reporting metrics on a weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
- Creation of annual team goals and AOP planning based on Biologics business sales targets (and others as required).
- Supporting the accuracy, data integrity and continued optimization of SalesForce.com and other IT systems as it pertains to Biologics proposals and existing projects.
- May be involved in customer concerns or Client Joint Steering Committee meetings as required for Client project portfolio and long-term planning discussions.
- Support proposal generated as per the Manager’s judgement (high priority Clients, sophisticated requests, or supporting overflow, etc).
- Provide the technical assessment of customer requirements and work with the subject matter authorities across multiple sites globally to deliver a high quality, robust proposal the meets the client’s program expectations.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant scientific (biologics) field
- Typically requires minimum of >5 years of related experience
- ~3-5 years of Proposal or technical writing experience preferred
- ~1-2 years of People Management experience preferred (direct or indirect; e.g. team lead)
- Proficient in MS Project, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and MS Word.
- SharePoint, Smartsheet, Salesforce.com experience preferred.
