A Brief Overview
Identifies and implements clinical, operational, and quality improvement initiatives and strategies for quality consulting and external reporting for Stanford Health Care (SHC) and the Quality, Patient, Safety department. This position works closely with the Chief Quality Officer, VP of Quality, SHC Leadership, and reports to the Director of Quality Consulting and Reporting. Additional responsibilities will include planning and supervising staff to help implement, sustain improvement, and oversee reputational programs. Monitoring and improving key outcomes on the QPSEC Dashboard, teaching and influencing medical staff and process owners on clinical improvement opportunities. In addition, the Manager of Quality, Clinical Effectiveness and Reporting serves as SHC's liaison with external reporting agencies regarding overall quality and safety performance. This position designs systems and processes to effectively support quality improvement efforts as required by regulatory bodies, and accurately collects and reports data to external benchmarking agencies such as the Joint Commission (TJC), Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and QualityNet programs, American Hospital Association (AHA), Vizient, U.S. News & World Reports (USNWR) and Leapfrog to address SHC's quality, safety, and reputation.

What you will do
- Provides leadership to accomplish Stanford Health Care’s mission, goals, and strategic plan.
- Oversees onboarding and orientation of new employees to ensure understanding of duties, responsibilities, work requirements and performance standards.
- Recommends organizational structure, reporting relationships and staffing needs based on program goals. Makes hiring, promotional and salary decisions in accordance with SHC policy.
- Stays abreast of changes that impact hospital for reported measures including, but not limited to: Centers for Medicare Services (CMS) and QualityNet, Vizient, Agency for Healthcare Quality (AHRQ), LeapFrog, US News & World Report, and registries.
- Creates reports to track performance metrics and clinical outcomes, metrics can include, but not limited to mortality, length of stay, readmissions, hospital-acquired conditions, resource utilization, complications, and patient safety indicators.
- Applies clinical analytic skills to evaluate, summarize, present, and recommend action based on data interpretation. (MIDAS, Vizient, Epic, QlikView, Statit, etc.).
- Identifies opportunities for implementing innovation and novel approaches to clinical and technical gaps in care delivery by utilizing peer institution practices and evidence-based guidelines,
- Facilitates quality improvement projects as needed with A3 support, improvement science education, statistical process control, data support and maintains a strong collaboration with Quality Analytics, Information Technology, Clinical Business Analytics and Digital Solutions.
- Understands SHC’s strategic initiatives and aligns improvement work with the strategic goals of the organization.
Education Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in a work-related field/discipline from an accredited college or university is required.
- Master's degree from an accredited college or university in a work-related field is preferred
Experience Qualifications
- Five (5) years of progressive responsibility and directly related quality improvement work within a large acute care hospital, health care system, or equivalent institution
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrated clinical acumen necessary to assess patient care and identify gaps or deficiencies in services provided.
- Demonstrated understanding of accreditation, regulatory and licensure standards, requirements, and guidelines applicable to hospitals, specifically, The Joint Commission, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), and Title 22.
- Ability to effectively communicate key messages to diverse audiences and is comfortable presenting to large detail-oriented groups.
- Understands high-value care, principles and practice of value-based decision-making, health care payment/reimbursement, and delivery models, including familiarity with barriers to high-value care.
- Understands clinical analytics and benchmarking tools for tracking data - such as Vizient/UHC, Hospital Compare, Midas, and Statit.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite - Word, Excel, PowerPoint

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $76.84 - $101.82 per hour
The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
