Job Brief

Body Expressions is seeking a Medical Biller to join our outpatient eating disorder clinic, with offices in Portland, OR and Vancouver, WA. A Medical Biller, or Insurance Billing Specialist, is responsible for organizing patient medical costs and sending invoices to collect payment from patients and their insurers. Their duties include calling patients to discuss payment and develop reasonable payment plans, entering patient data into administrative systems and recording information about outstanding claims.

Ultimately, you will demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, which are necessary when working with clients or agents who regularly deal in these matters.

Responsibilities

• Generate revenue by making payment arrangements, collecting accounts and monitoring and pursuing delinquent accounts
• Collect delinquent accounts by establishing payment arrangements with patients, monitoring payments and following up with patients when payment lapses occur
• Submit claims to insurance companies and process paid claims
• Secure outstanding balance payments for care of employees

Requirements and skills

• Proven work experience as a Medical Biller or similar role
• Solid understanding of billing software and electronic health records, HIPAA and privacy laws.
• Must have the ability to multitask and manage time effectively
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Outstanding problem-solving and organizational abilities

Job Duties

• Perform posting charges
• Perform completion of claims to payers
• Conduct duties in a professional and timely fashion
• Submit billing data to the appropriate insurance providers
• Process claims
• Resolve denial instances
• Achieve maximum reimbursement for services provided
• Deploy, maintain and report on various programs
• Awareness of and ability to learn and follow HIPAA and privacy rules

Hours:
Work hours and schedule may vary depending on the needs of the clinic, clients, and providers. This is a remote work position but ability to meet the team in person from time to time is preferred. Daily attention to job tasks is necessary but the majority of your schedule can be at your discretion.

Salary Range:
This is currently a part-time position with opportunity to add more hours as we grow. Hourly pay: $22-$30 depending on experience.
