Description
A growing medical education organization seeks a Medical Proofreader to review written content, including medical journal articles, scientific abstracts, webinar and podcast scripts, web site content, and general communications. As the Medical Proofreader, the ideal candidate is responsible for working collaboratively with the Executive Director, editorial and production teams.
Responsibilities:
- Proofread and edit written content for accuracy, grammar, punctuation, and spelling
- Ensure that written materials adhere to the appropriate style guide (e.g., American Medical Association Style)
- Fact-check information to ensure accuracy and credibility
- Collaborate with writers, editors, and other team members to ensure consistent messaging and quality standards
- Verify information and enhance the overall quality of the content
- Provide feedback and suggestions for improving the clarity, flow, and effectiveness of written materials
Skills:
- Minimum of 3 years demonstrated medical proofreading experience required
- Excellent command of the English language, including grammar, punctuation, and spelling
- Strong attention to detail and ability to spot errors quickly
- Proficiency in word processing software (e.g., Microsoft Word)
- Familiarity with different writing styles (e.g., creative writing, technical writing, proposal writing)
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Strong research skills to verify information and enhance content quality
-Experience in copyediting and InDesign is preferred but not required
