Part-time Temporary IP Paralegal

Lewis Roca is a top ranked Am Law 200 commercial law firm and one of the largest in the Western United States. We are seeking a part-time temporary IP Paralegal to join our team!
Summary:
The Temporary IP Paralegal delivers excellent work product and superior service by assisting attorneys, other legal professionals, and clients by providing efficient and effective paralegal and administrative support in all phases of administration and management of client patent portfolios, both domestic and foreign. This is a part-time, temporary opportunity to last 6 months. The number of working hours per week, should be no greater than 29 hours, and no more than 7 hours per day.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Handle complex case management for patent and other intellectual property litigation in federal district courts, appeals before the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals, and actions before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board and the International Trade Commission, including pleading and motion practice, fact and expert discovery, research, hearings, deposition preparation, trial preparation and attendance, docketing deadlines, etc.
- Manage paper and electronic discovery process for all phases of discovery and trial preparation, including coordination of electronic and paper discovery, patent file histories, product samples, depositions, transcripts, and trial support for large-scale productions and reviews.
- Create, organize and maintain document databases through Relativity, privilege logs and files containing discovery documents, physical evidence, summaries, deposition transcripts, etc.
- Research all case documents, materials, rules and court procedures and prior testimony and publications of opposing experts; analyze, summarize and compile timelines and reports regarding findings.
- Obtain all necessary information and materials from vendors, clients and government agencies such as the USPTO and the USITC; conduct legal research utilizing Internet sources, Lexis-Nexis, Westlaw, Docket Navigator, etc.
- Coordinate the preparation and filing of briefs and legal documents: draft routine filings; compile appendices and exhibits; prepare and submit electronic court filings through PACER and other court and administrative agency filing systems.
- Manage all trial preparation and support activity: manage trial exhibits; prepare trial notebooks; maintain expert binders; work room set up; communicate with experts, fact witnesses, counsel, etc.

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree and/or paralegal certificate required with three to five years related experience in a mid or large sized law firm
- Excellent writing and interpersonal communications skills
- Strong project management skills with attention to detail and deadlines
- Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize project requirements
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with a client service focus
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
Pay rate: $55.00/hr
Compensation can vary based on qualifications and experience.
