Project Manager - Books | US - Remote

KGL is seeking an experienced Editorial Book Project Manager to manage publications from manuscript through production process to final print-ready and digital deliveries. This is a work-from-home position associated with our Richmond, VA office.
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree with 3+ years’ relevant editorial project management experience, along with superior organizational and communication skills.
Must be eligible to work in the United States.
Job Summary:
The Project Manager, Books, will manage publications from manuscript through production process to final print-ready and digital deliveries.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Works directly with publishers, authors, and composition team; as well as freelance copyeditors, proofreaders, and indexers to manage publications.
- Creates and tracks schedules.
- Reviews copyedited manuscripts.
- Resolves author queries.
- Combines and checks corrections.
- Creates and submits weekly status reports for customers, to include schedule updates with actual dates for completed work and revised dates for upcoming stages as appropriate.
- Creates art logs and book maps; and manages files.
- Participates in and manages preplanning, early design, design review, launch, and status meetings.
- Communicates with everyone involved in the production process.
- Coordinates resolution of outstanding issues and activities directly with the publisher-specific staff.
- Other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, skills, and experience.
- 3+ years’ editorial project management experience.
- In-depth understanding of the publishing production process.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Good organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to follow directions and use good judgment with attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently.
- Strong computer skills, including knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Physical Requirements
- General office environment with intensive computer work and extended use of the computer keyboard and mouse.
- This position requires the incumbent to grasp objects utilizing manual dexterity including hand/finger coordination.
- This position requires the incumbent to experience periods of prolonged sitting.
