OVERVIEW
The Scheduling Representative is responsible for interacting with patients to gather information necessary for accurate scheduling and arrival/check-in.
Responsibilities include:
- Answers incoming calls and establishes a positive first impression with patients and physicians
- Responsible for accurately scheduling and re-scheduling patient appointments
- Successful scheduling includes, but not limited to, exhibiting proficiency in scheduling appointments according to practice guidelines, verifying authorizations and referrals, performing key user duties with minimal errors
- Accurately documents patient to provider communication, assessing urgency and escalating as appropriate
- Determines where call needs to be forwarded and makes disposition of all calls that arrive at the practice
- Maintains and updates patient demographic information accurately to computer database
- Takes messages from physician line and returns calls or redirects as needed
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1-year previous experience in a clerical position in a healthcare setting or physician office
- Reliable attendance record
- Experience with health insurance and medical terminology a plus
- Excellent verbal, written, listening, and interpersonal skills
- Works effectively with team and others and demonstrates flexibility in job duties to further promote department goals
- Demonstrated excellent customer service skills to meet/exceed patient and client needs
- Computer literate/able to use basic functions of a computer
- Detail orientated and well organized with focus on accuracy and quality
- Basic math skills
- Positive attitude with ability to perform under pressure in a calm and professional manner
- Ability to type 40 WPM
Preferred Qualifications:
- EPIC experience highly desirable
