Hanover Research - Research Associate, Qualitative Research

Remote Opportunity
The Research Associate (CATI-specialist) role will support our Corporate and Education practices as needed. This researcher will play a crucial part in collecting accurate and valuable data for various research projects. As a CATI specialist, you will engage with respondents over the phone, asking scripted survey questions and recording their responses using computer-assisted tools, playing an integral role in support of our market research efforts. Key job responsibilities include evaluating and creating scripts, as well as scheduling and conducting interviews via email and telephone. In addition, the Associate will work closely with senior researchers to define member needs and draft final deliverables that generate actionable insights. The Associate is expected to manage multiple projects at once and should feel comfortable reaching out via phone to prospective experts.
This position will allow for the swift development and refinement of a comprehensive set of qualitative research skills and provide the opportunity to develop a relationship with a young and rapidly-growing enterprise. We expect all employees to be intellectually curious, ambitious, and interested in assuming increasing levels of responsibility. This position will report to the Senior Research Participant Coordinator.
Responsibilities:
- Design interview protocols with direct oversight from a senior team member
- Identify appropriate contacts for interviews;
- Call through contact lists to schedule interviews;
- Conduct telephone interviews with respondents according to provided scripts and protocols.
- Establish rapport and maintain a professional and courteous demeanor while interacting with respondents.
- Ensure data accuracy and completeness during each interview, clarifying any unclear responses or probing for additional information as necessary.
- Document interview progress, including call attempts, respondent availability, and reasons for non-response;
- Take notes and audio record interviews;
- Compile detailed notes to augment interview transcripts;
- Distribute participant incentives;
- Analyze transcripts using CAQDAS (computer assisted qualitative analysis software) and thematic coding with direct oversight from a senior team member;
- Identify actionable insights and synthesize into a clear, concise report with direct oversight from a senior team member;
- Redact and distribute reports, as applicable.
Desired Skills and Attributes
- Excellent verbal communication skills with an ability to articulate questions clearly and listen actively to respondents.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately record responses.
- Willingness to tackle complex, often unfamiliar research requests;
- Comfort with or experience interacting professionally over the phone;
- High comfort level speaking with respondents over the phone;
- Experience conducting telephone interviews or telephone sales is preferred;
- Ability to work quickly and independently with minimal guidance or oversight;
- Ability to work under pressure and multitask in a fast-paced environment;
- Experience writing and researching for a business or professional audience;
- Ability to accept feedback and constructive critique positively;
- Demonstrable problem solving skills;
- Extremely strong and demonstrable work ethic;
- Strong command of the English language and demonstrated writing and editing skills;
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail;
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
- Proven academic achievement;
- High comfort level with Microsoft Office applications, such as MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Power Point.
Qualifications:
Education Requirement
A Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology, Sociology, Psychology, Political Science, or a related discipline is preferred, though candidates with relevant experience who hold other degrees will be considered.
Experience Requirement
1 - 3 years of business or academic experience conducting research, qualitative design/analysis, or professional writing preferred. Prior experience in telephone-based roles, customer service, or market research is preferred.

Compensation
Hanover Research strives to create compensation and benefits programs that are competitive, equitable and fair. The compensation range for this role at the company is $45,833 - $64,167 . Please note that the base salary offered is contingent on the candidate’s job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Our base pay range is determined by the role and the market.
