Our Sales team works closely with travel agencies, United travel departments, corporate clients and more to provide phenomenal customer solutions that lead to fruitful business relationships. And through valued customer feedback, optimized partnerships, and innovative sales strategies, Sales continues to be the largest revenue-generating department at United.
Managing a geographic portfolio of mid to large corporate accounts in Houston and Louisiana the Sales Manager will be responsible for responding to RFPs, negotiating discount agreements, and managing program performance. Primary emphasis is on increasing revenue, share and maximizing program profitability. Analysis, creation and implementation of Sales programs, ongoing account management and resolution of customer issues are major aspects of this role. To succeed, it is important to understand customers' needs, travel patterns, key influencer priorities and travel management practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Portfolio maximization, calibration and opportunity analysis
- Heavy focus on creating synergies across sustainability, DEI and other company initiatives with customers
- Account management, business planning, and administration
- Internal and external collaboration opportunities
- Client and industry engagement
NOTE: This position provides for a remote work arrangement ideally based in Houston. A well-qualified candidate located in the Central United States will also be considered. Approximately 15% travel if located in Houston. Approximately 40% travel if located outside of Houston.

What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience
- Three to five years equivalent experience with increasing levels of responsibility or two years of airline sales or travel industry experience
- A foundational understanding of airline sales or travel industry sales
- Demonstrated general business acumen and financial aptitude
- Proficiency in key business computer applications (ex. MS Excel/PowerPoint/Word and Salesforce)
- Communication and analytical ability
- Driven, energetic, results orientation
- Strong negotiation skills
- Ability to create and deliver client-facing presentations
- Ability to cultivate business partnerships
- Ability to engage with senior-level professionals across multiple industries
- Travel within an assigned territory with periodic travel to other destinations as required for internal and customer meetings
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
What will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):
- MBA
- Three years of account management experience in airline industry or travel industry (supplier, consultant, Travel Management Company, etc.)
- Experience or knowledge in Finance, Network Planning, Revenue Management, Marketing, Loyalty and/or Alliances
- Knowledge and user experience of the company's systems and data sources used within Sales
- Local knowledge of business industry
