See Yourself as a Software Quality Assurance Analyst
The Software Quality Assurance Analyst supports development on critical projects and programs as prioritized by Radian's leadership team. The role understands test methodology and best practices for software quality assurance, and is able to execute in both Agile and Waterfall models. The Analyst assists the Business in completing the testing activities on time, and effectively communicates with all members of the project team. The SQA Analyst is comfortable operating within the Agile model, and supports the process both by elaborating acceptance criteria for User Stories and Features, writing test plans, writing defect reports and executing tests as the development process progresses through the Sprints. In the Waterfall model, the SQA Analyst would support the test cycle by documenting test cases and leading the business through test execution.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Partners with the business community to understand the release, assists in defining the testing scope and creating the tests, provides the traceability to the requirements, supports the test execution and post-production testing (where required).This includes elaboration of Acceptance Criteria for User Stories and Features in the Agile model.
- Assists with leading the testers through aggressive test cycles. This includes leading the Business Testers, and interacting with Development where required to complete the necessary work. Reviewing test artifacts delivered by other QA staff.
- Proactively looks for continuous improvement opportunities with the test methodology and best practices to support software quality.
- Assists with the planning of quality assurance task assignments, scheduling, and estimates.
Job Specifications
Knowledge:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology is desirable. Previous experience following test processes, standards and procedures. Experience with hands-on testing, test management tools and working with the Business to complete test design and execution on time. Working knowledge of Mortgage Operations, preferably Mortgage Insurance product and operations, is highly preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
- Experience with HP Quality Center and CA Agile Central (Rally) is highly desired.
- Experience with both Agile and Waterfall SDLC is highly desired.
- Ability to assist on multiple medium/high complexity projects concurrently.
- Ability to coach Business Users to perform User Acceptance Testing tasks and activities.
- Ability to effectively communicate/report quality assurance status at weekly project meetings with the various Program and Project Managers, Development Managers, Business Analysts, Sponsors, and Subject Matter Experts.
- Ability to adjust the quality assurance tasks/processes based on the experience of the Business Users.
- Ability to obtain/verify the necessary testing artifacts are present, should the project be audited.
People Management:
- None - though position will need to lead project team members through testing cycles by using effective collaboration and influence
Prior Work Experience
- Technical: 1 - 3 years
- Supervisory: None
Education and Credentials
- Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree, Concentration in Computer Science or IT/MIS
- Other Certifications:: Certified Tester a plus

- Competitive Compensation: anticipated base salary is $62,907 to $103,347 based on skills and experience. This position is eligible to participate in an annual incentive program.
