Structural Engineer (Residential)
Tate Engineering is a boutique civil and structural engineering firm serving local clients in North Idaho. We are seeking a skilled and experienced structural engineer to join our team and take charge of overseeing structural design and review of single family residential projects.
Primarily, you will be in the office designing and planning project details and communicating with clients. On occasion, you may need to go into the field to observe an issue and make a design decision based on that observation. To excel in this position, you must possess hands-on experience with various construction methods and materials. Strong project management and analytical skills are also crucial for success.

Bachelor's in Civil or Structural Engineering and Idaho P.E. license required.
This position can be located in Coeur d'Alene, ID or FULLY REMOTE!
SalaryRange:
$80K - $107K DOE
Supervisory/Responsibilities:
Supervise up to two (2) employees
Duties/Responsibilities:
Exercise engineering judgment to resolve structural changes during construction of single family residential projects.
Perform Structural Construction Administration tasks including, but not limited to site visits and assessments, field observations and reports, shop drawing review and response to project RFI’s
Provide drawings and/or sketches for designs to be incorporated in construction drawings by drafters
Perform design and analysis functions for new structures
Conduct assessments and evaluations of existing structures
Attend meetings with clients, jurisdictional agencies, other professionals and organizations
Coordinates and approves pricing, estimating, scoping and marketing strategies for proposed projects
Develop solutions to challenges presented by the client within budget, schedule and project constraints
Manage, administer and design structural projects and structural components of non-structural projects, such as retaining walls
Review and understand contract plans and specifications
Understand, use, and maintain/update department standards
Perform quality control reviews on internal drawings and calculations
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Ability to read construction plans (Architectural, Structural, Civil, MEP)
Good verbal and written communication skills
Proficient in Structural and standard office software (AutoCAD, Excel, Word, Outlook, Bluebeam, etc.)
Self-starter, motivated with ability to start and finish a project on time
excellent communicator
Problem solving skills for real world scenarios
Attention to detail and the ability to organize and prioritize is a must
Display a professional and courteous attitude towards all team members
Education and Experience:
Bachelors of Science Degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering
Professional Engineer (PE) registration in Idaho is required within 6-weeks of hire
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience of residential structural design
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
