Please note: This position has the possibility to work remotely up to 100% of the time. The position will require occasional travel to the Phoenix corporate offices and/or site locations . This position may be performed anywhere in the U.S. except California, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Michigan, Illinois, Kentucky and New York. Additional states may be excluded from remote work based on business factors. Should the positions shift to in-office work in the future, the company will offer relocation benefits at that time should the position meet the established eligibility for these benefits.
Description
Under limited supervision act as the subject matter expert (SME) in the organization, management and evaluation of assigned areas with the goal of achieving higher equipment availability and lowering maintenance costs. Assists in operator education and the development of advanced diagnostic tools.
- Establish tactical and strategic goals, objectives, policies and procedures in assigned functional area within the business
- Coordinate with site staff and corporate teams in the inspection of assigned functional area operations and project progress
- Provide administrative and technical direction to staff; interpret policies and procedures established by regulatory agencies
- Work with functional areas to correct deficiencies
- Forecast necessary funds for operational improvement projects including staff, materials and supplies
- Submit budget recommendations and justifications; monitor and control expenditures
- Develop, plan and coordinate assigned projects and responsibilities, which may include project management, estimating and program development; coordinate work with other units and site departments
- Provide information and resources to site officials and other departments
- Review Capital Improvement Plans and make recommendations
- Evaluate infrastructure, facilities and operating systems for needed maintenance and repair
- Coordinate the activities of Innovation Engineers and Consultants
- Perform other duties as required
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
This position requires international air travel. In accordance with Freeport-McMoRan’s requirement for all employees whose job requires international travel, if you are hired you will be required to submit proof that you are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in order to travel by air internationally, unless the company has granted a medical or religious accommodation.
- High School diploma or GED and seven (7) years of related operational or maintenance experience, including supervisory or management experience, OR
- Bachelor’s degree and three (3) years of related operational experience, including supervisory or management experience
- Knowledge of the processes, costs, schedules, constraints and deliverables of the global company to improve safety, process efficiencies, production rates, cost controls and protection of the environment
- Knowledge of the equipment and associated SOPs at a site level
- Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Expert in conduction Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
- Expert industry knowledge of mining and processing, familiarity with mining terminology and credibility with the field
- Expert experience developing and delivering training and document writing
- Proficient computer skills in a Windows environment (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Expert leadership and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related Engineering field

- Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English
- Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards
- Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment
- Position is in busy, non-smoking office located in downtown Phoenix, AZ
- Location requires mobility in an office environment; each floor is accessible by elevator
- Must be able to frequently sit, stand and walk
- Must be able to frequently lift and carry up to ten (10) pounds
- Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required

Compensation:
The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently $94,000-$132,000. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance. More details will be shared during the hiring process.
