Description
Recruiting isn't easy. And that rings true whether you’re a bootstrapped startup (us!) or a global organization filling 10,000 seats in a year.
Founded in 2019 in Seattle, Change State is a rapidly growing recruitment marketing agency seeking a Client Success Manager to help support the execution of marketing programs and tactics to meet the growing needs of our agency business.
Our clients love us because we’re transparent, operate with integrity and a strong attention to detail. As a bootstrapped business, our “waste not” approach translates into our service to our clients.
When we set out to start Change State, our mission was to elevate the recruitment marketing agency. Clients come to us because we’re not mere managers of advertising budgets. Our clients see us as a true partner across all aspects of talent acquisition, including recruitment marketing, talent insights, and HR tech optimization. Our ideal Client Success Manager is comfortable wearing multiple hats, is able to recognize patterns in data, and isn't afraid to speak their mind when opportunities to improve present themselves.
A bit more about the Change State team:
At Change State, we believe your recruitment marketing agency should help you in all areas of the talent acquisition process, not just spending recruitment ad budgets. We tackle everything from HR tech selection, to talent insights research, to programmatic advertising. The Change State team brings a wide mix of experience across decades of work in talent acquisition, consumer brand research, workforce analytics and much more.
If you’re in the recruitment industry, you’ve likely heard us speak about our approach to recruitment marketing on sites like ERE and HR Dive, or recognize some of our podcast guests on The Changing State of Talent Acquisition. Great brands work with us because we’re really smart and get things done right.
We’re super excited to grow our team at Change State, but want to find the right fit - which means we’re not willing to sacrifice quality for growth. We’ll be asking all qualified applicants to go through the same screening process to help us make the best decision for all.
Job Description
We’re looking for someone who can make an impact on day one. Strong attention to detail is an absolute must. Full-time experience in recruitment - either as a recruiter, talent acquisition professional, or having worked extensively with TA professionals - is essential for consideration for this role. Marketing experience is not required.
Our ideal candidate might have worn many hats as a recruiter or TA professional at a Fortune 1000 company. Or perhaps they managed recruitment advertising at a hyper-growth startup. Operating in a fast-moving organization is essential, as is previous recruitment experience.
In this role, you’ll need to be comfortable in a changing environment. We’ll provide you with the structure and framework to make smart decisions for our clients. While you won’t be expected to own the recruitment strategy from day one, we are looking for someone who can recognize when something looks ‘off’ and raise a red flag. This is a heavily client-facing role, and we are looking for a team member who is comfortable not just speaking to clients, but also presenting data and making smart strategy recommendations based on client input.
As Client Success Manager your core responsibilities will include:
- Conducting regular client check-in, planning and performance review meetings
- Partnering with clients to understand their talent needs and translating that into marketing strategies and plans
Create client-facing deliverables (presentations, workbooks, etc) - Partnering with our job board and technology partners to deliver better outcomes for our clients or to troubleshoot as necessary
- Regular auditing of client data and progress towards budget goals, adjusting marketing strategy as needed
- Maintenance and monitoring of client advertising campaigns including but not limited to Google PPC, programmatic advertising, social media, and more
- Sometimes, “getting in the weeds”: posting jobs on Indeed, LinkedIn, ZipRecruiter and other job boards
- Other fun, exciting projects that help move our business forward
- Our business relies on word-of-mouth and organic growth. We do not sell, and we don’t expect you to, either!
Beyond core responsibilities, roughly 30% of this role will be flexible to what the right candidate can add to our expanding team. Are you a social media whiz? A great copywriter or storyteller? Experience with data visualization, graphic design…something else entirely? There are many opportunities to contribute to our growth, and the right candidate will be excited to share areas they are passionate about that could add more core competencies to our team. We will look for skills and experience that add value for our clients, and make exceptional client partnerships possible.
Compensation and Benefits
- We pay competitive salary based on level of experience as informed by our salary benchmarking partners
- Unlimited Discretionary Time Off
- Health, Dental and Vision Premiums
- Quarterly Profit Sharing
- Monthly Home Office and Cell Phone Reimbursement
- Annual Fitness/Wellness and Continuing Education Stipends
- Unplug Stipend - take a week away without checking work and earn a $1000 bonus
What You Can Expect From Us
You’ll be working directly with Change State’s founding team and a growing network of partners. Our core team members live in Washington State, Colorado, Florida, Texas, Michigan and Indiana. This is a work-at-home role, whether home is your camper van, a cabin in the woods, an apartment in the city, or anything in between (boats are also okay!)
We’re smart and great at what we do, but we don’t take ourselves too seriously, and neither should you. We believe companies work best when people are energized by what they do, so you have to care about recruitment advertising and metrics, helping leading brands optimize their messaging and candidate experiences, and ultimately, connecting the right employees with their available jobs. You’ll be able to clearly see the return of your efforts as we love digging into and sharing the data and return on our recruitment marketing efforts with our clients.
What We’ll Expect From You:
Great communication skills are absolutely crucial. A level of professional acumen suitable to working with C-level HR executives is essential.
Respond to clients within 24 hours, quicker if possible. (No, not including weekends.)
“Underpromise and overdeliver” is an ethos we take seriously, and so should you.
We love data. You don’t need to be Nate Silver, but you have to have some clue what Excel is and how to use it.
Mistakes happen – we are not perfect and we don’t expect you to be. We put high value on transparency and integrity. We all win and lose together.
Ask for help, but only after you tried to figure it out yourself first
Other things you may want to be aware of:
We’re a small team, and still working out our processes and workflows. This can be a little chaotic at times. Ideally we’re looking for someone who sees this as an opportunity to help us solidify our framework for what a “Client Success Manager” is and does.
We’re generally up early to service East coast clients and connect with partners in Europe. If the occasional early morning PST phone call is a dealbreaker for you, this may not be a perfect fit.
Having a life outside of work is extremely important to us. But we’ll move mountains to make sure our clients are thrilled, and we’re looking for someone with a similar drive. Occasionally that means we’re chained to our laptop for a week or two. Other times, we knock off early for a hike or beers, or disappear for a mid week camping trip. We work to live, not live to work, but if you’re looking for a fixed 8-hour schedule, this probably isn’t your jam.
