Description
Meta is looking for a technical artist to assist with building of 3D simulations of people, places, and things for computer vision ML synthetic data. Our simulations provide data to power ML capabilities for Meta’s VR and AR devices, such as the recently announced Quest 3. The team works on cutting edge rendering and simulation features running at scale. We are looking for candidates who share a passion for tackling complexity and working in a multidisciplinary org.
Technical Artist, Synthetic Data Responsibilities:
- Partner closely with technical art and engineering teams to define and develop content in modern real-time environments
- Quickly solve issues with your cross-functional leads
- Create programmatic and highly parameterized simulations which emulate reality in real-time game engine
- Work with ML engineers to define new techniques for scalable and realistic simulation
- Work closely with data partner teams to translate ML model training results into actionable improvements in synthetic data simulation
- Design and author automated testing, tooling, and validation of various content & system functions
Minimum Qualifications:
- Production real time game engine experience such as Unreal Engine or Unity
- Proven experience in programming languages such as C# or Python
- Proven experience in 3D content packages such as Maya, Blender, 3DSMax
- Experience working in game development, film, or tech industries operating as a Technical Artist
- Experience authoring physically based shaders & materials
- Experience with highly accurate lighting models such as ray tracing or path tracing
- Experience creating tools and pipelines for one or more packages like Maya, Houdini, Substance Painter, Substance
- Designer, ZBrush, Marmoset, Photoshop, etc
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with procedural art packages such as Houdini
- Familiarity with concepts around generative AI technologies such as GANs or NeRFs
- Creativity, effective communication skills and problem solving experience
- Expert communication skills & communication across teams including engineers and artists
- Experience working independently and managing one’s time
- Familiarity with game profiling and optimization techniques
- Attention to detail, interest and the experience to master new applications and technologies quickly
