Temporary Financial Assistant (Remote)

We are seeking a full-time, benefits-eligible temporary financial assistant for 6-months with the possibility of a 6-month extension. This is a 39 hour per week position based at $20 per hour.
As a member of CoE CIS BSC team, provide outstanding financial transaction services to faculty, staff, students, and researchers. Act as the primary contact to answer questions or resolve issues regarding financial transactions or financial policies. Complete all transaction activities such as procurement card, purchasing, reimbursement processing, accounts payable and payroll approval reminders. Review and approve financial transactions for completeness, accuracy, and conformance to federal and university policies. Ensure compliance standards, as designated by University, CoE, CIS, and Cornell Tech are met. Act as an interface between central University offices and College units. Provide Administrative support as needed.
Required Qualifications:
- Formal training beyond HS diploma of 6 months to one year.
- 1-2 years in an office setting. Experience with Cornell policies and procedures in the areas of purchasing, accounting, and accounts payable preferred.
- Experience with computer applications - MS Excel, MS Word, MS Access; etc. preferred.
- Must have excellent customer service skills and demonstrated ability to communicate with a broad range of people and be a team player. Attention to detail and organizational skills are critical.
- Demonstrated success as member of a functional team.
- Able to work quickly, effectively under pressure, use judgment in accomplishing tasks that are urgent or of a sensitive or confidential nature; balance conflicting priorities, and make decisions from a range of choices while adhering to proper policies and procedures.
- Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where change in process/procedures is the norm.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associates degree (or equivalent experience).
- Knowledge of Cornell systems: Kuali Financial System (KFS), Workday, Concur, e-SHOP, MS Office suite of programs, along with Outlook email and calendaring system.
- Experience with interpreting Cornell policies and procedures in the areas of accounting, purchasing, accounts payable, and travel.
- Experience and knowledge in university account structure and reporting tools helpful.

The New York Convenience of employer guidelines require New York State individual tax reporting and withholdings for this position. Additional individual state income tax filings may also be required if working temporarily outside New York State.
