Job Summary
As a Trainee with the App and Data Development and Support Services group at Minnesota IT Services partnering with the Department of Transportation (MNIT DOT), your training program will consist of introductory sessions in Information Technology topics including:
Minnesota IT Services (MNIT) Knowledge, Procedures, Standards & Policies
- Disaster Recovery Skills
- General Technical Skills
- MnDOT Application Portfolio Knowledge
- MnDOT Knowledge
- Professionalism, Teamwork, and Communications
The training program was created to prepare individuals for an entry level financial report developer position (ITS1) with Minnesota IT Services (MNIT). This program is designed to provide specialized training, skills, and knowledge to adequately prepare prospective candidates a pathway into MNIT with a concentration on job seekers with the greatest barriers to employment. Our mission through this program is to provide advance solutions to address racial disparities in education, training, and employment in Minnesota and specifically in Information Technologies.
This position is currently eligible for full-time telework:
- Telework for Minnesota IT Services allows an employee to perform work from a telework location and an employee may be required to be in the office based on business needs and other dependencies in St. Paul, Minnesota.
- Only candidates located in Minnesota and bordering states (Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, or Wisconsin) are telework eligible.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must clearly demonstrate all of the following qualifications in their resume:
- Experience must include critical thinking and analytical skills sufficient to complete program modules.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associates/Bachelor’s degree in related field or certifications or completed course work in IT Development from approved institutions (e.g., MSP TechHire Programs)
- Formal IT training (e.g., Code Academy, Software Guild, or similar.
- Demonstration of completion of some IT development-based training.
- Previous experience with Transportation subjects.
Additional Requirement
This position is based in St.Paul, Minnesota. This position will require the employee to be in the office based on business needs and other dependencies.
