The Training Specialist I – Operations Customer Service will help employees in Customer Service meet the goals of Premera Blue Cross by giving them the opportunity to achieve optimum productivity through successful technical training. The incumbent is responsible for delivering effective training on Premera's operational systems. Some travel to our Mountlake Terrace, or Spokane, WA campuses may be required.
What you will do:
- Conduct successful classes (in-person and virtual) on assigned Premera operational systems such as claims processing, customer service, sales and marketing, healthcare services, or membership and billing.
- Use effective presentation techniques and methods suitable for adult audiences.
- Produce materials such as job aids, flip charts and minor curriculum revisions.
- Work effectively with other department members to deliver classes.
- Develop sound working relationships with Team Leaders and Technical Support Staff.
- Develop clear class outlines, calendars and objectives.
- Maintain appropriate (personal) proficiency levels on technical platforms.
- Effectively communicate with customers before course (training charter), during course (training weekly statistics), and after course (training scorecard).
- Review and revise existing training curriculum using evaluation data to improve delivery of material and/or sequencing of instruction.
- Plan, develop and manage training measurement systems to ensure that courses are meeting company needs.
- Review, audit and provide feedback on trainee's work on activities such as claims processing, telephone conversations or correspondence.
- Assume Team Leader role within the classroom by monitoring attendance, testing productivity and accuracy levels, addressing individual or team behavioral issues, providing accurate and appropriate feedback to trainees and elevating performance issues to the appropriate management team and managing claims and call inventory.
- Consult & partner with customers to assess customized training needs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What you will bring:
- Associate degree or two years’ work experience (Required).
- One year of experience within a customer facing role (Required).
- Prior experience within a Learning and Development environment.
- Prior customer service experience strongly preferred.
- 2 years of experience public speaking/training experience, including the ability to cross-train others and train all levels of the organization.

The pay for this role will vary based on a range of factors including, but not limited to, a candidate’s geographic location, market conditions, and specific skills and experience.
National Salary Range:
$48,500.00 - $72,700.00
National Plus Salary Range:
$54,800.00 - $82,200.00
National Plus salary range is used in higher cost of labor markets including Western Washington and Alaska.
