Description
Flexbase is building a finance super app for business owners — reimagining every single aspect of the financial workflow and financial services for any entrepreneur. The company is growing 35% MoM and is on track to achieve cash flow positive by early 2024. Flexbase is focused on the long tail of the market, especially undigitized industries like construction and logistics, with >$1.2T in card spend annually still up for grabs. 90% of its customers come from incumbents like BofA and AmEx.
Flexbase is a fully remote company and this role can be performed from anywhere.
The primary responsibility of the Underwriter position will be to conduct the required due diligence to determine the creditworthiness of prospective applicants and existing customers. The Underwriter will be responsible for reviewing, analyzing, and approving credit product applications and is responsible for timely turnaround on applications.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Review credit applications for credit products and analyze applicable information (credit reports, bank data, financial data, etc) to make credit decisions in accordance with the credit policy.
- Conduct due diligence such as performing credit searches, UCC, judgment lien and tax lien searches.
- Ensuring that all required documentation is received for KYC and KYB requirements.
- Determine appropriate credit limits based on financial information and creditworthiness.
- Use discretionary judgment for credit decisions not conforming to the credit policy and communicate due diligence results to senior management to obtain the necessary approvals on all exceptions to the credit policy.
- Responsible for conducting underwriting reviews on existing customers for credit line increases.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in commercial or consumer credit underwriting.
- Strong financial background with excellent analytical skills. Ability to analyze financial statements a plus.
- Ability to formulate and articulate objective views based on professional credit analysis.
- Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to manage and deal tactfully with different communication styles.
- Must be able to work well with people at all levels within and outside the company.
- Strong decision-making skills needed; using sound business judgment considering impact of decisions on other aspects of the business.
- Comfortable managing high risk accounts and being accountable for decisions.
- Must have computer knowledge with strong Excel skills.
- Must exercise considerable judgment and discretion involving confidential information.
- Must have excellent time management and organization skills.
- Must be able to handle multi-tasks and be able to prioritize workload.
- Demonstrated integrity on personal as well as professional level.
- Ability to research and provide solutions to obstacles using logical and analytical problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
