Although this position is REMOTE, candidates must live in the MD, DC, VA area in order to travel frequently to client offices and CareFirst offices.
As a Wellness Consultant you will develop innovative and custom wellbeing strategies, programs, and tools for a wide range of clients with diverse and specific needs. Though a deep understanding of the CareFirst suite of services, The Wellness Consultant will manage the process to implement actives and projects that are integrated into the CareFirst suite of products and care management strategies focused on whole health and aimed at helping improve the health and culture of employer populations.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Development of a documented annual strategy and communications plan designed to improve the health and culture of the employee population.
- Design, promote, coordinate, and measure targeted wellness programs for client populations.
- Create engagement strategies and initiate improvements in support of CareFirst core services to impact overall health.
- Partners with Sales, Marketing, Product, Data Services, Health Services, and other key business owners to integrate, administer and support developed programs and corporate strategies related to wellbeing and whole health.
- Works closely with Data Services and internal key stakeholders to analyze and determine the most effective strategies to demonstrate return on value and return on investment to enhance worksite wellness. Evaluates the results of established programs and that can be utilized to effectively market products, impact engagement, and improve results for existing customers.
- Troubleshoots barriers that limit program impacts, including day to day systemic issues. Ensures that vendor partners provide services in accordance with contracts and service level agreements.
- Manages vendor and client escalated issues with highest level of priority, face to face meetings and follow through to resolve issues and acceptable long-term solutions.
- Represents Company and Department at group onsite events such as health fairs, enrollment meetings, seminars, and screenings to foster engagement in CareFirst programs and services.
- Acts as ongoing liaison or subject matter expert to key accounts as needed.
- Creates dashboards and scorecards used to measure and report on culture of wellbeing and program engagement.
- Works closely with data team to evaluate the results of established programs and produces credible ROI data that can be utilized to create benchmarks, recommend best practices, effectively market products, and improve results for group.
- Monitor and report on metrics and scorecard outcomes.
- Works in Partnership with Account Consultants and Account Managers to report on data and information relevant to key account wellness activities.
- Develop and lead wellness champion committee.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Possess a minimum of two years of experience in the development, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of health & productivity initiatives aimed toward improving the health status of external company employees while reducing medical and lost time costs for the employer.
Have a working knowledge of current and emerging healthcare trends and health behavior/education principles and communication methods.
An independent means of transportation. Local travel. Frequent driving is required.
EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in workplace health promotion, health behavior/health education, public health, healthcare administration, exercise/nutrition science, or related field
Preferred: Master's Degree
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Excellent verbal and written skills, including proven experience in the development of presentations and proposals.
- Proven experience in delivering executive level presentations.
- Project management skills in health care or health insurance industry.
- Critical thinking and sound judgment.
- Analytical skills to evaluate and interpret data and draw conclusions.
- Initiative and ability to work independently and with others in a team.
- Ability to positively interface with internal staff and external clients.
- Ability to juggle multiple projects and timelines.
- Demonstrated proficiency with various computer applications/software, particularly those related to the development of presentations.
- Ability for significant local daily travel.

Salary Range: $64,296 - $127,699 (salaries are dependent upon education, experience & equity amongst the rest of the team)
